Heading to Peoria

I left for Peoria this morning to drop off the first batch of Joi’s stuff and spend the weekend with Reese. I decided to take a different route to see if it was faster. Every other time I’ve gone to Peoria I’ve gone up US 75 to US 69 through Oklahoma, picking up I-44 in Big Cabin. This time I decided to try I-35 to Oklahoma City and then get on I-44 there. The mapping software said it was about 100 miles longer, but it worked out to be about an hour shorter due to the higher average speed on the interstates. I left at 6:30 in the morning and pulled in at about 7:30 at night. The GPS showed an hour of stopped time, so the trip was definitely faster. And it only cost me $3.50 in additional tolls.

The Jeep did really well with the stock gearing and larger tires. Other than really steep hills I didn’t have a problem staying at 70 to 75 miles per hour. And I averaged a little over 15 miles per gallon fuel economy. So now I’m a little undecided about regearing, at least until I tear apart the differentials to put in lockers.
