I had to fix some licensing problems with Currency Catalog today. Basically, Microsoft broke a couple things in XP Pro and SP2 that my licensing scheme depended on. It’s now working again and I’ll be posting a new download soon.
I think I’m going to take the links to Kagi out though. I like the service but the overhead just isn’t justified since PayPal is more widely used now.
I found out about this place a while ago and finally got a chance to get out there. It’s pretty cool and they’ve got tons of stuff that would be right at home in a German grocery store. I’ve got some brats, sauerkraut, and mustard just waiting for the grill. Plus, if you show up in person they give you a discount.
Getting this to compile was a little tough. There’s a few things to do in order to build it.
First, in tqsllib and TrustedQSL, you’ll need to edit the ‘configure’ scripts in both directories. In each one you’ll need to change the library paths for zlib, expat, and libcrypto from lib to lib64 in the checkzlibdir, checkexpatdir, and checkssldir functions.
The bigger problem is in the TrustedQSL package. There’s a couple lines of code in crqwiz.cpp that don’t play nice with 64 bit compilers. Use this diff to patch the crqwiz.cpp file. After that it’ll build and run just fine.
I’ve signed and submitted a file and LoTW parsed it successfully with this patch applied to tqsllib-2.0 and TrustedQSL-1.11.
Windows Networking is done. Interesting class, I learned a lot about Active Directory that I didn’t know. I’ve done LDAP rollouts so I already understood some of it.

I went out to Club Stratos tonight because I wanted some Greek food but was tired of going to the same old restaurants. I’m really glad I did because the food was delicious, the service was unobtrusive and excellent, and they had belly dancers!
If you’re looking for some good Greek food in the Dallas area, you could do a lot worse than Club Stratos.
I’ve been seeing a lot of commercials for those so calledstarving artist sales coming up here in the metromess and started to do a little digging. Well, here’s some info from someone with a Ph.D. in art that helps set the record straight.

Today was the big day. I finally got fed up with 35 hours on my Hughes SD-DVR40 and upgraded it with The Zipper. I had two 60 gig drives laying around and decided to put them to good use. The Tivo came apart easily and after a few missteps with burning the CDs, I got everything going. I’ve now got a 100 hour unit with networking, but the only problem was that the USB Ethernet adapter I bought, a Linksys USB200M Version 2, wasn’t supported until I could log in. That needed a serial cable, and luckily I had some parts laying around to make one.
I’ve got everything running now, the channels are all back, the season passes have been re-done, and it’s all working again. Next step is to replace the drives with bigger ones when money permits.
I ordered a full set of Serenity comics off of eBay on December 24th and they arrived today in perfect condition with all three covers for each of the three issues. I’d like to put them up on the wall somewhere but I haven’t figured out where…
